Most children who have a parent in prison never get the opportunity to spend time with that parent. Many families don’t have reliable transportation or are unable to make the trip due to work schedules or finances. However, incarcerated parents are still parents and their children need to know they are loved and that it’s not their fault Mom or Dad is away from home. You can help! Drivers provide a unique opportunity for children to visit their incarcerated parent. Through these visits, the inmate parents have the opportunity to build and maintain healthy relationships with their children.
Most prison visitation facilities are considered “inappropriate for children.” Your presence helps give kids a sense of safety and support. The drive to and from the prison also provides quality time to have meaningful conversations that could change their lives for the better.
Drivers also are needed to provide transportation to and from our Overcomers support group and Life Skills classes. Without this transportation, most youth would have no way to attend, missing out on the help and support they desperately need. Drivers are a tremendous blessing for the families served by Parenting With Purpose. Their presence makes a huge difference in the lives of each child.
