| Mentor a Child of an Incarcerated Parent |
This is an opportunity for an individual, family or couple to mentor a child with an incarcerated parent. The Mentoring for Life Change (MLC) program provides one-on-one and group mentoring for youth ages 5-25, affected by a parents incarceration. The participants of MLC are involved in this program during their parent's incarceration as well as after their release. The mentor serves as an example/role model of healthly adult life styles, positive family relationships, and spiritual vitality that make a difference in the life of the youth. All mentor matches are "same gender" and are formed naturally through the interaction of mentors with interested youth (mentees) in an activity or group setting. PWP trains mentors to meet and relate to the unique needs of prisoners' children. PWP also provides ongoing encouragement and staff support to all mentor matches.
