What We Do
Build Strong Families

Parenting With Purpose is an organization that works to restore families who have been effected by a parent's incarceration.  We focus on three key areas, the incarcerated parent, the children and the remaining spouse, caregiver or guardian.  By working with all three components we are well rounded in our approach and partner with other organizations to help in specific areas.

CHOSEN

  • A volunteer program to drive children to visit their incarcerated parent

First, through our Parenting the Future with Purpose program (PTFP) practical parent education classes are taught within the prisons.  These classes are for incarcerated moms and dads who are in need of assistance in repairing family relationships and enchancing their parenting skills in preparation for return to their homes and communities.  To foster the parent-child relationship, volunteers will drive children to visit their incarcerated parent.  PWP currently facilitates parenting clasees at:

  • Minnesota Woman's Correctional Facility in Shakopee (MCF/SHK)
  • Minnesota Men's Correctional Facility in Faribault (MCF/FRB)
  • Hennepin County Women's Jail
